It is entirely up to you, whether you choose to have your camera turned on or off.
It is important to understand that Yoga Motive instructors do not just simply demonstrate but offer students personal verbal adjustments and modifications to ensure that each student is progressing in their own individual practice.
In order to offer you the best service and level of instruction, we need to see you and how you are moving your body on your mat. As such, we highly recommend having your camera on during class.
Again, this is entirely at the discretion of the student and you are welcome to attend class with your camera on or off.
Yes, absolutely! Yoga is a personal practice and your connection with the instructor is extremely important.
We offer all new students the option to attend a free trial class to determine if, in fact, Yoga Motive is the right fit for you. You can contact us on info@yogamotive.co.za to book your free trial class.
Generally, any comfortable clothing will do but here are a few things to keep in mind:
Buttons and zippers restrict your range of movement and may pinch. Choose elastic waists and movable fabrics.
Form-fitting is best, clothes that move with you are less distracting and uncomfortable which will allow you to get more out of your practice.
Yoga is a barefoot practice, so kick off those shoes and wiggle your toes onto the mat. Socks can lead to slipping and injury so leave them off for your own safety.
A yoga mat is all you really need, but you are welcome to keep the following optional equipment nearby:
– A comfy jersey/ Blanket: to keep you warm and snug during savasana (meditation)
– A bottle of water: to keep you hydrated
– A yoga strap/ strap of some sort (like a belt/ hand towel): to use for shoulder opening or for those with particularly tight hamstrings.
– Yoga Blocks
No prior yoga experience is necessary. All our classes are suitable for all levels of practice and fitness.
We do recommend that absolute beginners and first-time yogis start with our “Vinyasa Yoga Foundations Course“. There is both an in-studio option for students in Cape Town, as well as a self-paced online version of the course.
We also offer private 1-on-1 sessions, for those looking for more individualized training and attention.
Listen to your body and rest! If at any point during class you feel overwhelmed or just plain tired, come down into child’s pose and take a rest.
It is important to understand that yoga is a personal practice, listen to your body. If it is asking you to rest- please be kind to yourself and do so.
Yes, If you have not been advised by a medical professional to avoid movement or exercise then by all means join a class. Please do be sure to explain to your instructor what injuries/ conditions you suffer from before class.
