I am 60 yrs old, have been a road runner for many years, but developed a slipped disc which gave me two options, a back op or to stop running. I chose to stop running. This was more than 10 yrs ago. Even though it was the best decision for me, my back stiffness and pain has not disappeared. I started yoga classes 18 months ago and it has changed my life. It’s not easy with a stiff back, but Brigitta encourages us to “get onto our mat as often as you can, and eventually, your body just…gets it”. Lockdown has only exacerbated my back issues as I am not moving around as often as before, still working from home. I have just completed 3 weeks of the Yoga for Back Pain series, and will highly recommend it. It is made up of 6 sessions, each class is different, is completed in 30 mins. and you have the flexibility to fit it into any part of our working from home “busy” schedule. My stiffness and flexibility have definitely improved and I will carry on doing these classes, at least on the days that I don’t have an online session. Thanks, Brigitta! 🙏🏽

...Battle with pain and tension in your back?
…Struggle with tightness in your hips?
…Constantly feel stiff and fatigued?
…Are you frustrated with feeling uncomfortable, or sore?
Let’s get real for a moment…
The digital age and our tech-savvy lifestyles are not conducive to a happy, healthy, and pain-free back and spine.
In fact, most people spend their days moving from 1 chair to the next.
Whether it’s sitting in a car, at a desk, in a conference room, on the couch, or in bed…
The average person spends anywhere from 6,5-8hrs per day sitting. Long periods of sitting can contribute to chronic back pain, especially if you have poor posture or are seated in a poorly designed chair.
Long periods of sitting puts pressure on the discs supporting your back, increasing your likelihood of developing pain or degenerative conditions.
Add to this the nationwide lockdown, which forced society into an even more sedentary way of life coupled with significant economic pressures and the mental and emotional distress experienced by many South Africans (and across the globe). I mean…
…It’s no wonder your back is so tight and tender!
Imagine If You Could…
...Move with ease and comfort.
…Feel strong and more mobile in your hips, back, and spine.
…Feel inspired to tackle the day with renewed energy and focus.
…Learn how to treat yourself with more compassion, and understanding.
…Calm a busy and stressed mind.
…Learn to develop a healthier work/life balance.
Hey special soul, let me introduce myself…
I’m Brigitta Bouwer, Yoga Teacher & Wellness Coach and I created this 6-part “Yoga For Back Pain” series for people just like you.
I’m passionate about holistic wellness which to me, means being healthy, happy, and empowered in body, mind, and soul. But it hasn’t always been like that. I spent many years climbing the corporate ladder, which meant long hours either spent sitting in meetings, driving to and from meetings, or sitting behind a computer screen or slumped over my cellphone. I was addicted to the world of go-go-go, constantly stressed and anxious.
I often had pinched nerves in my neck and shoulders; my back constantly ached, and every so often my back would completely spasm out, leaving me debilitated and woman-down. I suffered from tension headaches, struggled to sleep properly, and never quite felt 100% happy and healthy (no matter how much exercise I did).
It all changed for me when I found yoga.
Yoga taught me how to tune-in. How to become aware of my body and how I was treating it. My yoga practice gave me the space to slow down and to reconnect. I learned how to quiet and calm my mind, but most importantly I learned how to begin practicing self-compassion, understanding, and self-care.
I created this program to provide those who suffer from back pain and tension with a daily self-care routine, for developing a healthier, happier back and spine. This program is designed to help improve back flexibility and mobility, whilst developing core strength and stability.
Each session is designed to be completed in under 30-minutes, making it easily accessible for any schedule.
How to get the most from this program…
This program was designed to be done for a minimum of 3 consecutive weeks.
Practicing 6 days on and 1 day off/ rest.
The longer you commit to this program and the more consistent you are with coming onto your mat, the greater the results you will experience.
